We will be learning more this week in class about community service and choose a group to donate our profits to. Plan a display for your table as well. We will talk more about business and marketing this week. Ask if you need help or have questions!

Here is this week’s homework.
Our Halloween parade last Friday was lots of fun. I will post photos this week of your costumes and “monster gourds”. Remember to bring in 2 sticks and decorative items for our Native American spirit stick art project this week. What spirit of nature will you represent…the wind, ocean, fire, or stars? What is your idea? On Tuesday, a docent from Bowers Museum is coming to fifth grade to share Native American artifacts with us!

This week in math we will continue doing long division, problem solving and mental math. Keep practicing your math facts for five minutes each day. If you know your facts, it will be easier to understand the relationships between numbers!
On Monday we will begin an essay on heirlooms. Talk to your parents and come prepared to write about a family heirloom of your choice.

I will not be at school on Monday, because I am attending a school visitation with a group of teachers from our school district. Double check your Reminder Binder We previewed Monday’s homework assignments on Friday.

Today the students did an excellent job during our bus evacuation drill to the High School. The fire department and school administrators commented on how well behaved the students were during this important drill. Thank you fifth graders for being great examples!
